Platform Unity Completed December 2021 Team 4 Members Genre Interpretive Experience

An interpretive game experience about getting through the struggle of daily living — players move through different rooms and dodge projectiles while exploring themes of dissociation and routine.

Overview

Still… explores the experience of dissociation and its impact on daily routine. Players navigate through rooms representing everyday tasks — completing chores to progress through levels, all while dodging abstract projectile obstacles.

The character is rendered as "a simple, spinning hexagon with a melancholy look," deliberately stripping away complex visual representation to keep focus on emotional resonance.

The game's cycle design is intentional — repetition is a feature, not a flaw, reinforcing the feeling of routine that dissociation distorts.

Design Philosophy

Minimalist UI

Reduced UI elements to keep visual noise low. Health is displayed through character sprite opacity fade rather than traditional bars — loss is felt, not read.

Emotional Impact

Animated text effects — fade-ins and shake effects — were scripted to reinforce emotional beats. Every UI decision supports narrative immersion over mechanical clarity.

Negative Space

Negative space is used deliberately to create emotional weight, letting emptiness communicate what prose cannot.

Asset Design

As the UI/UX and asset designer, I created concept art and in-game assets including: alarm clock, mirror, character expression faces, bullet designs, laundry, headphones, and bed assets — each reinforcing the daily-life theme.

Playtesting drove the refinement process, particularly around difficulty calibration and ensuring players read the narrative correctly without heavy-handed exposition.
